THIS Type of HONEY is Killing Every Kind of Bacteria Scientists Throw At It (Even the Super-Bugs!)

Nowadays, we all have at least one jar of honey at home. Raw, organic, unprocessed honey is used by almost everyone because it is abundant in various health benefits. But, now, a recent research and its scientists claim that there is a type of honey which can kill any bacteria, especially some of the worst known kinds!

The results were first published by the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. This discovery can be especially important these days when modern antibiotics and medicines are mostly resistant against bacteria, especially against “superbugs.”

This amazing type of honey is called manuka honey or also known as jelly bush honey. It is produced in New Zealand and has become very popular because it led to shortages and selling of fake products. New Zealand manuka producers have asked for a protection of their trademark, similar to the Scottish whiskey or the French champagne. The health benefits of this honey were kept as a secret.

Manuka Honey Kills MRSA, Other Superbugs

Bees foraging on the nectar of Leptospermum Scoparium, the New Zealand manuka bush, as well as tea trees native only to Australia and New Zealand Manukacreate this honey.

Manuka honey managed to kill every bacteria or pathogen it was tested on in the studies. You can either take it internally or apply it topically to help you fight insect bites, infections on the skin and cuts.

According to this research, none of the superbugs manuka honey killed were able to build up immunity, and that’s the most common problem with most of today`s antibiotics.

Dr. Dee Carter of the University of Sydney’s School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences says, “New antibiotics tend to have short shelf lives, as the bacteria they attack quickly become resistant. Many large pharmaceutical companies have abandoned antibiotic production because of the difficulty of recovering costs. Developing effective alternatives could, therefore, save many lives.”

According to Dr. Carter, methylglyoxal, found in manuka honey, makes it very effective at destroying the bacteria. It combines with other unknown compounds and causes “multi-system failure.”

Where to Find Manuka Honey

Most health stores and also various web sites online sell the amazing manuka honey, although the supply levels have decreased which led to fake honey being sold. Make sure that you get an UMF certified manuka honey when you buy it. UMF means Unique Manuka Factor and it is a phytochemical property obtained from the manuka bushes.  Amazon.com also sells numerous certified manuka products.
